Counter-Strike last night was a great contrast between a team with no cohesion and one in which everyone performed flawlessly. Everyone has a role on a team. Perform your role, don’t step on the roles of your teammates, and bring lots of enthusiasm, encouragement, and faith in your teammates abilities.
During one of the early rounds of the first game a 2 versus 1 situation developed. I was the one. The opposing team executed a perfect double-entry move and I had no chance, barring a perfectly timed flick shot. Immediately two team members opened up the verbal assault, stating factually that had I approached the situation differently, victory was a certainty. That tone was present through the whole match, with constant “coaching” as I played the match.

Fast forward to the next match. All five players stated what they were going to do at the beginning of the round (on CT side). We lost the first round. And the second. Then the third. After each round, everyone stayed positive and nobody coached their teammates.
It’s amazing how far a “wow, great try” goes instead of “you should have done <insert some strategy> instead”.
Being part of a team means having faith that your teammates can perform their role. No professional sports player ever walks up to their teammate after a play and tells them how they *should* have proceeded. That’s a coaches job or best left for post-round analysis.
