“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”
― Thich Nhat Hanh

Reading through Tribe of Mentors, it’s been noteworthy of how many of the interviewees in the book lean on meditative practices that focus on breathing techniques. I’ve been an irregular user of Headspace over the last two years. It’s only recently that I’ve taken the techniques taught and practiced in formal morning sessions into daily life.
Stressed at work? Breathe.
Aggravated something isn’t going your way? Breathe.
Trying to focus before a big sporting event? Breathe.
Can’t fall asleep at night? Breathe.
Focusing on breathing isn’t a panacea, but I’ve found it certainly calms the bodies neurological response to stressful situations.

Picture was taken at Simmons College aquatic center. My daughter was swimming her little butt off in a meet last weekend and we were there to cheer her on.
