I regularly read books with a notepad at the ready. A dumping ground for little pearls of wisdom, references to other material, and ideas spawned that happen while reading the book. After finishing Tribe of Mentors, I had three pages of notes. It could have easily been ten had I not been conservative with what […]

The Breath
“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh Reading through Tribe of Mentors, it’s been noteworthy of how many of the interviewees in the book lean on meditative practices that focus on breathing techniques. I’ve been an irregular user of Headspace over the last two […]
Carpe Diem
Carpe Diem! Seize the day! Preached by many, practiced by few. What is not often discussed is that “Carpe diem” was only the beginning of a longer passage in Horace’s most famous of odes. The latter part of the passage offers just as much to the reader: quam minimum credula postero Loosely translated: “putting as […]
Extreme Ownership
As a regular listener of Tim Ferriss’ podcast, each week I’m presented with a new opportunity to learn from his guests. In his episode from September 21, 2016, Tim sat down to talk with Navy SEAL, Jocko Willink (@jockowillink). Listening through the episode, Jocko’s passion for squeezing every drop out of life was evident. Jocko […]
Clean Your Windshield
It’s been cold in New England over the last week. The kind of cold that makes your face hurt. Vaporized
Spent some time (trying) to capture water vapor coming out of a humidifier. This was an interesting shoot because the shutter speed on the Nikon D5200 isn’t exactly stellar. A lot of work was done in Lightroom to clean these up, but the results are neat. All of these were shot with the 50mm. My […]

Winter Iceland – 2017 Edition
After some rainfall yesterday, the trees were left with a glass-like coat of ice for the most of the day. As the sun slipped lower in the sky, the ice caught the last sun rays of the day and made for some beautiful images. Nature’s Christmas Eve present was certainly one to remember this year.
